What is Caring Hands?

Caring Hands was introduced to recognize generous donors and volunteer organizations that have made a significant contribution to supporting the mission of Exeter Hospital and its affiliates. The images of "caring hands" recognize our most generous donors.

This year, due to current events, we've gone virtual! We are excited to celebrate our 2020 Caring Hands honorees online in a series of four short videos to be shown in the coming months. Our honorees include Mark & Tara Whitney, Eileen McDonald, Paul Bamford & the Oyster River High School Golf Team, Dr. David Donsker, Dr. Vasilios Lirofonis and Arts in Reach.

Each year, proceeds from our annual Caring Hands Celebrations benefit an initiative of United in Wellness. This year, that recipient is The Beyond the Rainbow Fund.

The Beyond the Rainbow Fund was founded in 2002 by Anne-Marie Viviano, a Seacoast resident and former Exeter Hospital patient, to provide financial and wellness assistance to patients and their families who face hardship as a result of a cancer diagnosis. Her vision was to relieve individuals of outside stressors so that they could better focus their energy on healing their bodies and minds.

Through generous support, The BTR Fund covers expenses, including rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, transportation, medication, groceries, wigs and wellness treatments. It has become a valuable resource for hundreds of Seacoast-area cancer patients.

In May, 2009, Anne-Marie passed away after a courageous 14-year battle with breast cancer. Her remarkable journey and resilience of spirit continues to inspire and provide hope to so many, while her legacy continues through the Beyond the Rainbow Fund.

Your support is appreciated now more than ever as we help patients navigate these uncertain times.
