Volunteer Champion Pays it Forward to Help Patients in Need

Energy and excitement abounded at the 9th annual Kathy for a Cure event on November 12th to benefit patients at The Center for Cancer Care. Founded and organized by local fitness instructor and breast cancer survivor, Kathy Kerrigan, the day long fitness event attracted over 250 participants this year.

“This event is a true testament to the impact that Kathy and her family have made within their local community,” explains Carrie Shaw, advancement officer. “We are honored that so many share in Kathy’s vision to give back to those affected by cancer and also provide additional support to our patients through The Beyond the Rainbow Fund.”

For the 4th year, the Oyster River High School National Honor Society continued their support of this event with a $1,000 donation, contributing to this year’s grand total of over $11,000. Since Kathy’s event in 2008, Kathy for a Cure has raised almost $90,000 for our patients. Thank you to Kathy Kerrigan, a true community champion, for her selfless commitment and dedication to helping our patients.
